I’m headed to Washington DC for the Marine Corps Marathon!

The national Watermelon Board is a sponsor of the race as well as they provided me a bib for this one! They will be handing out watermelon at the Kid’s Race as well as after the Marathon on Sunday! <- Head’s up: If you want any type of watermelon you have to beat me to the finish. Since I’m choosing team #EatMoreWatermelon I believed I ought to gown the part so I busted out my watermelon Camiseta LOSC Lille costume…

But after a few laps around the block I realized:

A.) My neighbors believe I’m crazy as well as will most likely not enable their kids to trick-or-treat at my house.

and

B.) That gown is NOT runner friendly!

Luckily, they sent me a t-shirt to sport instead! vegas digs it.

Keep an eye out for the Watermelon team at the expo as well as after the race. tell them RunEatRepeat sent ya to get some watermelon as well as bring it back to her!

Since I am the #1 fan of watermelon, I have to suggest we carve a watermelon instead of a pumpkin for Halloween this year!

Skinny Eggnog French toast recipe

national French toast day is coming up on Thursday Nov 28th! But, that’s also Thanksgiving when I’ll  be cooking up a storm and probably end up Camiseta Inter Milan eating toast with PB for breakfast. So today is the day to celebrate and I have a healthier version of the good stuff that combines eggnog into the mix.

All I know is the company sent me massive amounts of bread and I’ve been doing my best to take pleasure in the carby goodness. one of the loaves they sent was health Nut, which I don’t get because the first ingredient isn’t whole Wheat (check labels!). But, considering that I already have it I’ve been eating it. and I do have to admit – it’s really good because it has lil pieces of nuts. I’m absolutely a texture girl Camiseta Cruz Azul when it pertains to bread and like it ‘hearty’.

Also, eggnog recently found it’s way into my fridge. I’m not sponsored by the eggnog council, often I go to the store and use this dirty green paper in my purse to get stuff I like.

I’ve pointed out this several times on ol’ RER but I drink massive amounts of drinks – any and all kinds. I don’t know how to sip, only slam. This is great for winning party games CHUG CHUG CHUG!

But, it makes for a hazardous trip to Las Vegas. and it also makes for risky service when eggnog is in the house. A glass of that stuff can pack over 500 calories easy.

Since I love the taste of eggnog, but don’t want to drink the whole carton in one day I incorporate it into dishes for some eggnogg-y goodness without drinking the whole thing. I made skinny Eggnog French toast the other day and loved it!

Randomly, the eggnog went ‘missing’ already so I gotten some Silk Pumpkin spice drink to recreate it with a holiday spiced kick.

Tip: French toast can be soggy if you don’t do it right- use thick bread and toast it or set it out overnight to dry out. The end pieces work great for FT too!

Skinny Eggnog French Toast

2 pieces Oroweat bread, toasted (200 calories)

2 egg whites or 1/3 cup egg beaters (60 calories)

1/4 cup Silk eggnog or pumpkin spice (40 calories)

dash vanilla extract, nutmeg & cinnamon  (0 calories)

Toppings: additional nutmeg and cinnamon, syrup, almond butter

Directions: heat pan & spray with nonstick.

Mix eggs, eggnog, spices, vanilla. Dip toast into batter. Cook. Top. Eat.

Without toppings this recipe is only 300 calories. top it with a little bit of good syrup and a tablespoon of nut butter to hit all your carb, protein, healthy fat bases for breakfast.

Things can go extremely wrong when you are training for a half marathon or marathon as well as tackling long runs. Your task during training is to utilize the poor runs as a discovering experience. It’s never a ‘throw-away’ run. You discover more from the poor runs than the great ones.

So, when you have a poor run – note it, discover from it as well as move on to run one more day.

New York City Marathon results as well as recap

I ran the new York City Marathon! This is my last marathon of the year (I’m quite sure) as well as it was the very best race ever – the perfect method to cap off an legendary year of running!

The day started off at 5:45am with Steve. We satisfied in the lobby as well as walked to the bus pick-up. He was my partner-in-crime for this journey as well as he’s back on my favorites listing (the order of my preferred people listing modifications often). I was super anxious about getting to the starting line – it’s extremely different from the usual smaller marathon starts.

Getting to the nyc Marathon begin Line: 

The production of getting to the begin on Staten Island is part of the journey.

We took a bus from the hotel as well as the enjoyment started to build!

The new York City Marathon is the biggest marathon in the world with over 45,000 runners! I cannot even envision all the logistics to make this day happen.

The starting village had countless people sitting, peeing, eating, drinking Dunkin Donuts!

I kept warm in the camping tent with my ING class of 2013 teammates Steve as well as Dave.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

What I ate before the nyc Marathon race: 

They had food however I brought oatmeal packets as well as utilized hot water to make it.

Steve offered me $3.00 as well as a granola bar to rub his feet, however I refused.

Maybe if it was a donut I’d have taken the offer… hey, I can be bought.

That or he was altering his socks, I forget.

Dunkin Donuts provided coffee as well as beanies for runners. Monica America Runs on Dunkin.

NYC Marathon starting Line:

Before I understood it the announcer stated it was time for my wave to line up!

I headed over to my corral – they close 30 minutes before you begin so you have to get there in time or you’ll have to go in a later corral.

Since I had time to wait I sat down for a bit bit…

Soon it was time to line as much as start!! The energy was so intense.

New York City Marathon Course

The new York Marathon starts on the Verrazano Bridge.

It’s amazing!

I took some photos during the race however truly tried to enjoy Camiseta Atalanta BC every mile! The crowd support as well as energy is unlike any type of other race!

NYC Marathon completed in 3:41:23!

I satisfied visitor Mandi at the surface line. She got a new pr in new York!!

Then, it was a long walk to the household reunion area. The race provided out ponchos to keep warm, however I didn’t get one since I was in the wrong line or something. I don’t know??! however I was chilly as well as wished to get inside as well as warm fast.

I ultimately saw Ben who’s been with his college good friends in NYC. It was a reunion!

Overall thoughts on the nyc Marathon race as well as race course: 

The new York City Marathon has the very best crowds of any type of race I’ve ever run. The energy is unbeatable! The program has a few huge hills over the bridges (the one at mile 15 killed me).

The surface with central Park is gorgeous with the autumn leaves as well as LOUD from all the supporters!

There are so many amazing food options! I went with new York Pizza.

How To love yourself and Why You should

happy Valentine’s Day!! I really love February 14th  because it’s my mom’s birthday. She is the best. I’m very very lucky to have her (Hi mom!). but I’d love Valentine’s Day even without that benefit because I am a fan of any day that celebrates chocolate. (Plus all the holiday candy will be on super sale tomorrow!!)

Valentine’s Day is about love (and chocolate, never forget the chocolate part). Whether you are in a relationship or not you should love yourself. It’s good for you. and it’s good for the people around you.

So even though this holiday seems to focus on relationships, make it about love and show yourself and the people around you some love by loving yourself a little more.

To get real here… it’s  been hard for me to love myself. It has been a long journey to self acceptance and even just liking myself.  In the past I thought I would love myself when I lost weight, saved money, felt pretty, was more social, got more followers, found someone who loved me, volunteered more…

My love to myself was conditional. sometimes I was willing to like myself or barely tolerate myself – but I thought I’d love myself when I finally hit random goals.

That sucks. I can’t imagine being in a relationship with someone who said, “I like you, but I’d love you if you lost 10 pounds.”

I would never tell someone, “I like you, but I’d love you if you got a promotion.”

And while healthy boundaries in relationships are important = you should not be with someone if they are abusive or make you feel like crap…

You are stuck with YOU.

So, if you have a negative inner dialogue you are stuck in that crappy, unhealthy relationship in your head. and that doesn’t help anyone.

If you refuse to love yourself (or work toward loving yourself) you are not giving your family, friends, passions the best version of you. If your friends spend all their time helping boost up your self esteem – you’re not helping them with their problems. If you don’t love yourself it’s hard to give your best, strongest, most confident effort to your family, hobbies and work.

You can do more for the world and the people you love when you are a strong, happy person that loves yourself. Ironically, it’s unselfish to love yourself because when you are in a good, well-adjusted mindset you are the best version of YOU and you can use your talents to contribute to the world.

So, we all agree we gotta love ourselves even if it’s kind of uncomfortable and Regina George might make us feel dumb, right? Right.

Now – let’s do it…

 

Ideas on how to love yourself:

1. Act like you love yourself.

Do something positive that makes you feel smart, healthy, confident or just good in general.

Find a hobby or outlet that uses your talents or passions. It doesn’t have to be exercise or giving back to society – it can be 100% just fun for you.

ideas: Camiseta SC Braga Take a dance class. paint a picture of your cat. go to karaoke. read a good book. learn to make sushi. Roll around on the ground with your dog.

Do something that makes you happy. happiness is good for you and it’s a good place to start. Then, thank yourself for being nice and just doing something you enjoy.

 

2. Talk like you love Camiseta FC Utrecht yourself.

This might be filed under ‘fake it till you make it’ if you have a negative body image or a history of negative self talk.

Make every thought you say to yourself – whether it’s about yourself or someone else – is kind. Don’t criticize. Don’t be nasty or mean. If you always think bad thoughts about your thighs or how you suck at yoga – stop. replace it with a caring thought.

How to swap negative talk for loving talk:

instead of – ‘Ugh you can see all my cellulite in these running shorts’

*Note: Um, full disclosure this is a real problem I have. It’s something I’ve said to myself a lot in the past.

swap it – ‘I am grateful I can run so far. I might not have the typical runner’s body, but I can run with this one!’

*Note: You don’t have to say ‘I am a gorgeous supermodel’ – especially if that feels patronizing or untrue. just focus on the positive. name the reasons you should love yourself.

This Camiseta Selección de fútbol de Arabia Saudita isn’t about debating whether or not something you think is true – do that in therapy. This is about refocusing on something positive and loving about yourself.

instead of – ‘I can never keep up in spinning class, I look like an out of shape slacker’

swap it – ‘I’m happy I made it to spinning again – that’s 4 weeks in a row! It’s not easy to get there after a long day…’

Truth time – I have read negative comments the blog and social media about how I look  and not only believed them, but carried them with me for years. sometimes they still pop up when I’m not in a great place. how is that helpful to me living a happy life, being a good example to others or giving me confidence to go after my goals? It doesn’t. So I have to work at replacing  negative ideas with positive ones.

 

3. eat like you love yourself.

Fuel your body with healthy, delicious food. This isn’t about your weight or whether or not you have food issues (again, therapy if needed).

This is about loving yourself. If you are taking care of a puppy or little kid –  you feed it when it’s hungry. You don’t give it so much that it gets sick. You want to provide it yummy, healthy food so he or she is happy and feels good.

Do that same act of love to yourself. Make time to eat. Make time to prepare or buy food that you enjoy and that makes you feel good.

These are all opportunities for you to practice kindness – to yourself. and being kind to yourself helps you love yourself and pass it on to the people around you. Lead by example. You never know who is watching. If you talk in a positive way about yourself it will help people around you feel like it’s okay to speak about themselves in a positive way.

Pass it on!
